Amsterdam: Scooters moeten van het fietspad af

De gemeenteraad wil af van snorscooters op het fietspad. Dit kan alleen niet omdat Den Haag dwars ligt.

Gisteravond sprak de gemeenteraad weer over scooters op het fietspad. 'De snorfiets heeft geen toekomst op het fietspad', zei wethouder Eric Wiebes (Verkeer). 'Maar zonder helmplicht heb ik niet de moed snorfietsers naar de rijbaan te sturen. Volgens verkeersmodellen betekent dat vijftig tot honderd extra ziekenhuisgewonden, vooral jongeren.'

Wiebes wil dat snorfietsers dus een helm dragen en op de rijbaan gaan rijden. Volgens ​Het Parool kan dat echter niet omdat het kabinet en de Tweede Kamer zijn plan moeten steunen. De politici in Den Haag willen dag echter niet. De gemeenteraad overweegt daarom nu zelf maatregelen in te dienen.
